台積電今（19）日公布2017年第3季稅後純益約899.3億元，季增35.7%，單季每股盈餘為新台幣3.47元，優於去年同期。展望今年第4季，台積電預估營收介於91億美元到92億美元之間，約為新台幣2757.3億元至2787.6億元，季增約10%。毛利率估介於48%到50%之間，營業利益率估介於37%到39%之間。至於今年資本支出估為108億美元，創歷年新高。
台積電財務長暨發言人何麗梅表示，驅動第3季營收成長的動能，主要來自行動裝置的重要新產品的推出，以及一個普遍健康的整體市場需求環境，包括加密貨幣挖礦運算。
然而，台積電第3季因為受到客戶持續調整庫存而減緩部分營收成長，但預期第4季業績將持續因為行動裝置的重要新產品的推出而受惠，而客戶同時也將持續進行庫存調整。
根據對當前業務狀況的評估，台積電針對2017年第4季的業績展望如下：合併營收預計介於91億美元到92億美元之間（若以新台幣30.3元兌1美元匯率假設），約為新台幣2757.3億元至2787.6億元。其單季營收數字可望成為今年高峰，而單月營收也有機會刷新歷史新高紀錄。
至於毛利率預計介於48%到50%之間，與上季毛利率49.9%相比微幅增減，主要是10奈米開始量產稀釋了毛利率。而營業利益率預計介於37%到39%之間，較上季38.9%減少1.9%到0.1%。而2017年資本支出則預估約為108億美元，其中有7成主要用於建置7奈米與10奈米製程，未來幾年，預估每年資本支出都將破百億美元的水準。
何麗梅預估，今年第4季營收可望成長10%，主要動能還是來自於行動裝置10奈米部分，至於明年第1季，她表示因為整個產業特性是很動態的，所以無法預測明年第1季的狀況，但依照以往經驗，每年第1季大多是一年當中處於低位階的狀態。但對明（2018）年全年仍有信心會有5%到10%的成長，同時希望明年第2季後，7奈米能順利進入量產，至於其他原有的製程也希望能盡量保持好的產能利用率。
